5 Tips for Your YouTube Video

YouTube is the second largest search engine, with over 6 billion hours of YouTube videos watched each month! After reading all the amazing YouTube stats, there is no reason you should not be on this powerful social media network.

If you are new to YouTube, there are some tips and tricks you can use to improve your YouTube video to get even more views… which can lead to shares, and eventually more leads for your business!

#1 Keep It Short

Nobody has the time to listen to you talk for hours on end. Unless you are doing a mini series or film, you are going to want to keep your video short. 30 seconds is a great goal but could be unrealistic for some topics. Keep it at least under 2 minutes. If you are leaving tips, make sure to get to the point!

#2 Don’t Blend In with Your Background

It is amazing how quickly we make decisions, especially when we are scanning the Web. Make sure when you do your YouTube video that you stand out from the background. For example, if the background is white, don’t wear white! Wear something that pops and goes good with your features. Remember, that is one of the reasons Kennedy won the presidency! (It is also not recommended to do your video while having a cold or flu).

#3 Fill Out Your Fields

YouTube offers a lot of fields to fill out from the video title, to its description, date of inception, and location. Fill out everything to the fullest, and make sure it is clear and unique. This is what YouTube (and Google) uses for search results, so you are more likely to come up when you have a good description.

#4 Say Something Useful

Most likely your video is going to be viewed because of one of two reasons. Either it is really funny (which is probably the best way to get more views) or you are giving a useful tip or tutorial. For example, all of Endless Range Marketing’s YouTube videos provide some online marketing tip or trick. (I have yet to find a funny way to do this). If you just talk about your product or service, this might be good for your website, but you most likely won’t get very many views through YouTube.

#5 Have Fun!

With video, self expression is extremely important. If you are having fun, more likely your video viewers will have fun as well! And I’m of the thought that there is no point in doing something if you hate it.

So while you are making your YouTube video, enjoy yourself! It will be on the Web until the end of time.

These tips and tricks are meant to get you started on YouTube. What is the worse YouTube video you can do? One that doesn’t exist! So get out there, express yourself, and remember to have fun in the process.
